Huggies vs. Pampers – Which of the Two is Better?

Sometimes it can be hard to decide which nappy is best for your newborn. For most new mothers, it often comes down to Huggies vs. Pampers, but which should you choose? The choice can be even harder if this is your first child, because you probably have no previous experience.

To help you be better able to focus on more important things, like enjoying your new baby, I am going to do the work of comparing Huggies vs. Pampers for you. It is so important to know which diaper will work best for both you and your baby. Choosing the wrong one can cause a whole array of problems, including a nasty rash.

Especially for newborns

Since your baby will be wearing diapers for at least the first year or so, it’s important to start out properly. Let’s move to the actual comparison of Huggies vs. Pampers. Both have sizes made especially for newborns and both have extra small sizes for preemies.

Huggies have a few special features, including the Leak Lock System for 12 hours of leak protection and a cutaway for the umbilical cord. Their nappies also have a wetness indicator that changes colors when your baby is wet, and a GentleAbsorb Liner to keep your baby’s skin as dry as possible. The soft breathable cover and Velcro fasteners offer comfort as well as the ability to move around freely.

Pampers offers a newborn diaper that features a notch for the umbilical cord. They also have extra channels to absorb and distribute wetness, keeping your baby dry for up to twelve hours. Their Absorb-Away liner works to actually pull wetness away from your baby’s skin, while the color-changing indicator alerts you about wetness. The sides are made of soft, stretchy material that moves when your baby does, so they will always be comfortable. Pampers also offers a newborn nappy for babies with sensitive skin.

How well do they absorb wetness?

When comparing Huggies vs. Pampers, one of your biggest concerns is the absorbability of the diaper. Both brands are very well in areas of absorption, lasting through the night as your baby learns to sleep longer. However, more parents agree that Pampers is better suited against leaks from a dirty nappy, and tend to not “blow out” when extra messy nappies happen.

Which is most comfortable?

We definitely want our babies to be able to sleep comfortably through the night, so when comparing Huggies vs. Pampers, we wanted to make sure we looked at this aspect. Both have special features to ensure the comfort of your baby.

Huggies offers a contour in the leg areas and waistband, as well as a soft, fabric-like outer cover and Velcro waist fastener. Pampers are also soft on the outside and feature moveable, stretchy waistbands. However, most mothers agree – the Pampers for babies with sensitive skin are much more comfortable for their babies than the regular Pampers for newborns.

What about price?

If you compare Huggies vs. Pampers in terms of price, you will find that both cost almost the same on Amazon. Huggies Little Snugglers for newborns in the 88-count package are about $22.00. Pampers Swaddlers Sensitive for newborns in the 80-count package are about $23.00.

If you plan to purchase your diapers locally, you can get coupons from Huggies website, while both Huggies and Pampers offer a reward program for moms.

Hygienic and excellent absorbent power with antiseptic properties as well.
